Nigerians Online Spark Debate Over Lady’s Car Purchase
A Nigerian lady, Dinma (@dinma_x), recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that she had purchased her first car, a Mercedes-Benz. She shared photos of herself posing with the luxury vehicle, celebrating her achievement.
However, her post quickly sparked controversy, with many questioning how an average Nigerian woman could afford such an expensive car. One user, Onyenaturuchi Ogbonna (@Odsonfx), commented:
“Can an average Nigerian woman afford a car? Not even a Toyota but a Mercedes? These chiefs spend money on unnecessary things.”
In response, Dinma dismissed the scepticism, explaining that she had been saving ₦200,000 daily to afford the car. She also refuted claims that a man had purchased it for her, stating:
“Since I posted a picture of the car I bought, I have not rested from inferior men. I saved 200k daily to be able to afford that. But some people think a man just closed his eyes and bought it for me. I pray you all heal. I WILL DRINK YOUR TEARS!”

Her response only intensified the debate, with many online users questioning what kind of job allows someone to save such a large sum daily in Nigeria.
Could she have genuinely saved up for the car, or is there more to the story?
