El-Rufai Slams Tinubu Administration, Calls It Nigeria’s “Most Corrupt and Intolerant”
Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has strongly criticized the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, calling it the worst and most corrupt government in Nigeria’s history.
Speaking to journalists in Katsina State on Monday, 14th April, El-Rufai didn’t mince words as he accused the current government of spreading falsehoods and failing to deal with worsening insecurity across the country.
“This is the worst federal government in Nigerian history and all the indices have shown it. This is the most corrupt and most intolerant government in Nigeria. This is the most lying government that depends on false propaganda,” El-Rufai said during the interview.
Security Claims Dismissed as Propaganda
El-Rufai questioned the federal government’s repeated claims that the country’s security situation has improved. According to him, known figures like Dogo Gide, Mallam Abba, and Bello Turji—notorious bandit and insurgent leaders—are still active in the north.
“They lied that security has improved in Nigeria. They read out numbers of bandits killed except the ones we know are the leading bandits,” he said. “In Kaduna, Dogo Gide is still around, Mallam Abba, the Boko Haram terrorist, is still alive. Bello Turji is still around but every day, they announce names of people that are bandits’ leaders that they have killed and security has improved.”
Root Causes of Insecurity Ignored
He also criticized what he described as the federal government’s failure to tackle the root causes of insecurity, especially in Katsina, Zamfara, and parts of Sokoto State.
“How many local governments are under the occupation of bandits in Katsina state? How many are occupied by bandits in Zamfara state and some parts of Sokoto state. And because you are in government you think that nothing would happen?” El-Rufai asked.
The former governor’s remarks have added fuel to the ongoing national conversation around governance, transparency, and public accountability under the Tinubu administration.
