Police Officers Summoned After Video Shows Them Taking Cash From Chinese Nationals

News

A video showing Nigerian Mobile Police officers accepting money from Chinese nationals has stirred up serious outrage online. As a result, the officers have now been summoned to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for questioning.

The footage, which made its rounds on Tuesday, 15th April, shows the officers lined up as Chinese nationals hand over ₦5,000 mint notes. This took place while they were on escort duty in Kaduna State, and, unsurprisingly, it didn’t sit well with many Nigerians.

The video quickly went viral, with people online expressing disbelief and anger.

Police Force Moves Quickly to Investigate

It didn’t take long for the Nigeria Police Force to react. They issued a signal warning to the officers’ commanding officer and ordered DSP Aliyu Adejembi and his team to report to Abuja. They’ll be questioned, and if the claims hold up, disciplinary actions are likely.

What’s Coming Next?

The police haven’t shared many details on the investigation yet. But it’s clear that something needs to be done. With all the chatter online and the negative light on the Nigeria Police Force, this case will likely be under intense scrutiny for a while.
